Hi! I’m Paula Dennan, a writer, editor and book reviewer from Dublin, living in Co. Kerry, Ireland.
I write book reviews, features, interview profiles and opinion pieces. My writing focuses primarily on abortion rights and reproductive justice, sexual health, politics, and LGBTQIA+ experiences. My essays, opinion pieces, and reporting have appeared in GCN, Headstuff, and University Express, among others. My book reviews have appeared in University Express. I post shorter book reviews on Instagram @pauladennan.
In 2023, I returned to college as a mature student to study Social Science at University College Cork (UCC). I am currently working on my undergraduate dissertation, which is a comparative analysis of how alcohol-induced blackouts and consent are discussed in sexual education and consent programmes in Ireland.
I am the editor of Motley, UCC’s student-led arts, culture, music and current affairs magazine for readers in college and beyond. I am a former deputy news editor of UCC’s University Express.
I also write the newsletter Without Apology. Without Apology is the home of three newsletters.
Subscribe to Without Apology for commentary on abortion rights, reproductive rights and reproductive freedom.
For essays about feminism, activism, LGBTQIA+ experiences, and figuring out how to live an intentional life, sign up for Learning and Unlearning.
The Reading Journal is a fortnightly (biweekly) newsletter for people who love books that make them think about life differently, for better or worse.
